The marshal can't let the stress of the case get to him if he wants to make sure justice is upheld.

Smart and Satisfying

A complex plot with a secondary line woven through it, an excellent writer, a thoroughly sympathetic detective, and Florence--it's hard to ask for more. The narrator captured the detective's character which more than made up for a few stumbles in Italian pronunciation and his voice was rich without sounding affected. Although I've read all of Magdalen Nabb's books, I savored this story as if I'd never heard it before--yes, that good. I'll go look for more in Audible.

Detailed procedural with top notch narration

Colacci is the absolute best…switching from character to character seamlessly. Love most everything he reads. Good story. Very procedural so pay attention. I love Italian police investigative books and this one was refreshing in that even though set in Florence there was not the constant droning on and complaining about tourists that many Italian books contain (aka Leone).
