What makes this book different is that before each historical Moorish story begins, the author tells an introductory story that makes Moorish history relevant to present day circumstances. Most of these introductory stories involve explaining the world to his daughter.

Moorish history starts in when the "Age of Ignorance" ends. There was a time when people lost their sense of humanity, but a message inspired them to change the world. The same message that was brought to the world by many prophets and leaders before that moment in time. The message of freedom, justice, and prosperity inspired the downtrodden to rise and topple tyrannical kingdoms worldwide. The message rallied different religions, races, and ethnic groups. The movement took the world by storm. This story is fictional but based on facts about how a mostly African army was initially invited to Spain to liberate the people from an oppressive ruler. Unbeknownst to all involved, this event would turn the Iberian Peninsula into the Ornament of the World!

In 711 A.D., the Muslims launched an invasion from present-day Tangier, Morocco. They landed in Europe at a place that would later be known as Al Andalus. These Muslim freedom fighters were called Moors. The Moors’ presence in Al Andalus began as an invasion and occupation. Then, the Moors governed a territory that evolved into a cosmopolitan kingdom or emirate that excelled in building remarkable architecture, advancing science and technology, creating amazing art and literature, and generating economic wealth and opulence. This happened during the European Dark Ages.

Unfortunately, the Moors fell victim to the same trappings that brought down previous empires and civilizations in history. Although the factors are the same in the abstract for different empires, the actual scenarios and events of Al Andalus’ decline and collapse are a riveting story. This is a historical fictional tale of greatness, courage, human advancement, and generosity, which devolved into selfishness, self-indulgence, corruption, greed, and, unfortunately, great loss and regret. If you read this book, you will embark on an exciting roller coaster ride through Medieval Spain and African history.

The loss of emotions with a robotic performance

I enjoyed the story however have A.I. reading this kind of story is a disservice to the emotional moments that can't be felt with just robotic reading.

Excellent delivery of the history

I’ll have to listen again to find out why the asides to the plight of the American lower class are relevant, but the delivery of the historical precedent is great. The storyline covers the history of the Moors in a real-time process that colors the major parties and events.

Nothing. Rambles into meaningless, unnecessary and obscure events,

Everything. No information on the Moors invading and occupying Spain. Perhaps it 150 pages into the book. I want refund!
