Great Middle Entry

The Mortal Tally does an excellent job of continuing the story of Lenk and his adventurer friends throughout this fully fleshed out world. excellent world building and excellent progression help bring you to the end of a book that leaves you wanting the third volume immediately.

Splitting The Party Never Works Out Well

Hemmed and hawed to myself about whether this was a 4 or 5* book and decided on 5 for a few reasons... Primary of those is the fact that I finished it straight through w/ 3-4 separate sittings... After that, bc of some simply superior character development and interpersonal relationships... Then, the dialogue and banter which is freakin’ awesome... Enjoyed it more than the 1st book, which was uber entertaining, and appreciated the subtle, and not so, mirroring of recent/current history in our own non fantasy world... Also captivated by the off center quirky approach to the genre... Definitely not light fantasy, and is a little bit out there, but I expect the fantastical when I read fantasy... Mordant wit, exquisite pacing, and vivid imagery... Love the narration too, but thought the narrator from the 1st book fit the story better...

Great Story and great voice actor.

Ruined civilization, demons, resurrected god demon and drug addict mages defending whore houses from crusader soldiers. I mean what else do you want, elven empires reduced refugees? wait that's in here too
