A chilling collection of Ray Bradbury short stories, The October Country combines dark fantasy, classic horror stories, imaginative tales, and gripping mystery and suspense, offering an unforgettable exploration of the human soul's darkest corners.

“That country where it is always turning late in the year. That country where the hills are fog and the rivers are mist; where noons go quickly, dusks and twilights linger, and midnights stay.”

Explore the outer limits of the imagination with the Grand Master of American Literature, Ray Bradbury, in a dark and disquieting descent into The October Country. Readers of The Martian Chronicles and The Illustrated Man, as well as fans of H.P. Lovecraft, Rod Serling, Bram Stoker, Stephen King, and writers of other classic horror stories, will be captivated by The October Country’s nineteen astonishing tales. From drowned cities to frantic carnivals to forgotten Mexican villages, Bradbury offers an unforgettable journey into mystery, shining brief lights upon the darkest corners of the soul.

Nothing to dislike. Classic Ray Bradbury! He could make any subject interesting. One of the best ever!

The amazing writing combined with wonderful voices by the narrator.

I have heard radio show versions of several of the tales decades ago but never the entire October Country collection of short stories. My, what a treat. I met old stories that were like old friends to me like The Wind and There Was An Old Woman, and I introduced myself to new stories I have never heard before. My, what a master storyteller Ray Bradbury is with a love for life and a vast imagination. I am honored that I met him at book readings in Los Angeles. I am thrilled to hear his voice again. The biggest treat you can give yourself this Halloween is to listen to October Country. Again.

Magnificent!

Ray Bradbury is a great author (everyone loves Fahrenheit 451) but this book is not his best work.

He writes competently but the stories themselves are lacking any real substance and sometimes don’t even seem to have a real theme or moral of the story.

Mostly Dull and Boring Stories
