These thirteen stories are our own lives, inside out.

A boy's summer romance doesn't end in that good kind of heartbreak, but in blood. A girl on a fishing trip makes a friend in the woods who's exactly what she needs, except then that friend follows her back to the city. A father hears a voice through his baby monitor that shouldn't be possible, but now he can't stop listening. A woman finds out that the shipwreck wasn't the disaster, but who she's shipwrecked with. A big brother learns just what he will, and won't, trade for one night of sleep. From prison guards making unholy alliances to snake-oil men in the Old West doling out justice, these stories carve down into the body of the mind, into our most base fears and certainties, and there's no anesthetic. Turn the light on if you want, but that just makes for more shadows.

I dislike this cheap grab @ harming animals & non-humans for a cheap grab @ attention. It's upsetting not a thriller but a way to distract & make sure you are feeling like you aren't in control. I'm just stopping at the last 2 hours. I really enjoy trying others on but these aren't very well done. Narrator does a nice job indeed 👏. Some of the stories just - end. Which makes zero sense 🤔. Thx

Whoa! Too much animal death.

I always love anything written by Stephen Graham Jones and the stories themselves are eerie and well-written just like everything he writes. However, the narrator sounds like he was just reading from a set of cue cards, he almost sounds like a voice-to-text bot actually. Not only does that make the stories less impactful, but it also makes them harder to follow because you miss the emotional beats.

Great stories, lackluster narration

Ignore the nay-sayers, especially the one-star review. This collection is definitely worth a credit.

Excellent Collection

The stores were a bit hard to follow sometimes. However I enjoy listening to the stories.

Not a huge fan of this narrator. He seemed bored. But I do love the stories. Some I kinda lost where I was and what was going on. But honestly I blame myself cause I’m dumb and also the narration just having no emotion.

I honestly love everything Jones does
