I liked the story but had a hard time relating to the MC (Rachel). She was more of a consultant maybe than a police detective. I enjoyed the other characters the ghosts/orphans and Peak the partner. The villains gave me a Criminal Minds vibe. The author is new to me and this is book 4 in the series. I'm not sure if it is better to read in order but it worked well as a stand alone. The narrator was neutral for me, not great but not bad either. if you like paranormal mysteries this book is for you. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily leaving a review.

Just ok

I received a free copy of this title in exchange for an honest review. This is my honest review. This book is a little different from your typical paranormal ghost story, but in a good way. I am only giving four stars, as I try to reserve five star reviews for what I consider phenomenal books. Four stars indicate a great read, for me. The book is well-written, no glaring errors, either in the plot or narration. No grammatical errors that I noticed, which means a lot these days! The plot was well thought out and easy to follow, the characters were likable and acted accordingly and the narrator did a great job. I plan to continue listening to this author. Highly recommended for those who enjoy paranormal/mystery tales.

I was given this book for free from audiobook boom and asked to leave an unbiased review for the author and narrator. Good story and I thought it was well written. There were some repetitions though, but it seems to be more from production than writing. I'm still not sure what order the books in this series go in, but I know I didn't listen to them in order. This is a stand alone book, but I think it would be better to listen to the series in order. I thought the narrator was pretty good. She could work on her various character voices though, make them more different and her pronunciation.
