Excellent survey of largely unknown peoples

Very good overview. Good starting point for further reading/learning. Very good voice on narrator

fascinating details about civilizations I've never heard of

I liked the research focused portions describing characteristics of various civilizations but was less interested in the historical recreation portions.

Interesting historical basis for a good book ruined by the wrong choice of a narrator

The narrator is completely out of place here. Wrong cadence. Wrong voice. She sounds bored/exhausted of her attempt to narrate something beyond her scope. And before anyone tries to assume that I am attacking the narrator because she’s a woman, that would be completely false. I am very much in support of equal opportunity for all people, especially women. It’s just that this particular narrator just doesn’t work at all for this Book.
