Stuck in a small town with dead-end friends and no future, Nick Curtis joins the Army to better his life. There he is persuaded to join a shadow organization within the military and sent on a covert operation within the United States. Facing abandonment and treachery, Nick turns to the only men he can count on—his friends from home. Unpolished but loyal, they join him on his mission, unaware that a dogged reporter with a dark past is tracking the trio’s path of destruction.

Set in 1980’s Baltimore, The Phantom Brotherhood is a fast paced and gripping story of loyalty, betrayal, and survival in a world where the heroes are unlikely and their history forgotten.

I really enjoyed this book. There were a few times I had no idea where it was going. I thought I did, but then there was an unexpected twist. I thought the narration was great. There were a few odd pernpounciations but nothing that took me out of the moment. My only complaint, not enough to warrant losing a star, was the time gap between chapters and the gap between announcing the chapter and the start of the chapter. I prefer a little more space to get my mind ready. In conclusion, did I enjoy the book? Yes. Do I want a sequel? Yes. Would I listen to it again? Yes.

What a fun ride!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Phantom Brotherhood. Brody Quinn delivers a sharp, engaging story filled with loyalty, betrayal, and the rough edges of real small-town friendship. The 1980s setting, the tension, and the unexpected twists kept me hooked throughout. Patrick Shannon’s narration is outstanding, giving each character a distinct voice and keeping the pace tight and immersive. This audiobook blends action, heart, and grit in a way that feels authentic. A fantastic listen from start to finish.

I listened to this audiobook on my flight, and it made the hours disappear faster than any in-flight movie could. Th authors storytelling has that raw, lived-in realism that makes you feel every scrape these three misfits get into. Patrick Shannon’s narration nailed the grit and bravado of the 1980s setting, giving each character their own edge and attitude. What surprised me was how the story balances pulpy action with deeper themes of loyalty, disillusionment, and redemption. The secret military plot felt both outrageous and oddly believable, like a conspiracy whispered just loud enough to sound true. By the time we landed, I was already looking up whether Quinn had more stories set in this world. I really loved this book.
