“A compellingly drawn dystopian future.” BCCB

The Maze Runner meets The Hunger Games in this heart-pounding trilogy.

Orphaned teens, soon to be hunted for sport, must flee their resettlement camps in their fight for survival and a better life. For in the Republic of the True America, it's always hunting season. Riveting action, intense romance, and gripping emotion make this fast-paced adventure a standout debut.

After a radiation blast burned most of the Earth to a crisp, the new government established settlement camps for the survivors. At the camp, sixteen-year-old ""LTs"" are eager to graduate as part of the Rite. Until they learn the dark truth: LT doesn't stand for lieutenant but for Less Thans, feared by society and raised to be hunted for sport.

They escape and join forces with the Sisters, twin girls who've suffered their own haunting fate. Together they seek the fabled New Territory, with sadistic hunters hot on their trail. Secrets are revealed, allegiances are made, and lives are at stake.

As unlikely Book and fearless Hope lead their quest for freedom, these teens must find the best in themselves to fight the worst in their enemies.

Loved it! probably for a younger audience, but it still held my interest! This book had a strong start, conflict, and climax. I thought the ending was a little "Old Hollywood" and left me a little flat. But not so much that I wouldn't recommend this book. There was also some loose ends that I felt got tidied up too quickly at the end. Again, not enough to sour the book. the most memorable part was when both the Sisters and the Less Thans figure out their real roles in this post apocalypse world.

A Real Binge Book

Wow. I had to write something about this one. I've never done so much talking aloud to an audiobook. The characters are fully human. They defy expectations and, sadly - at times, manage to delve beneath the line of what we would deem acceptable human behavior. I wanted to punch characters in the face and scream, "c'mon, you're smarter than that!" There were also several moments when I said, (aloud, of course, because I talk to books,) "I didn't see that coming."

In short, this one surprised me. My only critique is that one of the main characters still remains a mystery. What ARE his motivations? Fortunately, I feel the author will explore this in the second book of the series.

I've enjoyed this book and all of its damn frustrating realism and recognition of human flaws.

I'm looking forward to the next one.

Tugged on my emotions. Felt a little too possible.

The narrators were top notch. The story had me from the beginning. Please tell me their will be a book 2.

I was intrigued by the sample and proceeded to use my month credit for this novel. I enjoyed it until the end which I just felt ended using a very thin threaded concept that was sew ln minimally through parts of the book. Worth a listen however and definitely good over all.

it should be mentioned I was looking for The Prey Series by Jon Sanford and accidentally purchased this book.

Ending left something to be desired.

Nuff said. Maybe I would enjoy this as a teenager. Not enjoyable now though. Predictable storyline, boring characters.
