My name is Gemma Lucas, and my life's a mess. Alex is gone, my dad's trapped in his own mind, and my mom's working for the dark side. Not to mention that Nicholas refuses to quit haunting me.

The world has also entered apocalyptic mode. Every day more vampires, witches, and fey run the streets. Innocent people are dying, the Mark of Malefiscus is showing up everywhere, and I'm the only one who can stop it. The only problem is, I have to die in order to do so, and I have to let Alex die - something I'm not sure I can do.

I was intrigued by the story in the beginning, however, after reading all 4 books I felt a huge disappointment. Let me start off with the fact that there was so much lying one to another that I wanted to scream! You would think by the 3rd or 4th book they wouldn't lie to each other anymore but no......they kept lying to each other over and over again. So maybe there was a little romance but there was nothing but fighting and bickering throughout and very, and I mean very little fighting of actual combat at all! I felt no chemistry between Gemma and her man. Hardly any intimacy either. Not worth the read and not interested in reading the 5th book either. I think the author tried to imply there might be a love triangle but thank God she didn't go there. The 4th book left where you don't actually have to read the 5th one but they did leave it open thay they were going to rescue her father. Was more for the 14 year olds and younger. I "think" they might have had sex but I'm not sure, it was that confusing! The only great thing about listening to the Audible books is that the 2 narrators were fantastic!!

Thought it would be better.

The story had a lot of “fluff” and dragged on. The male narrator faded out frequently, as if he was turning away from his mic, and it became distracting.

There is no greater love than he/she who is willing to lay down his/her life for another

I’ve known about this series for a long time and honestly it’s a big favorite of mine that whole time. No it’s not the best written story but I’ve personally always loved it.

It’s not for everyone, but I love it.
