I wanted the fairy tale. Was that too much to ask? The attractive man with his life fully together, who loved me. Babies. The white picket fence. But men had other ideas. They wanted to waste my time and all my good eggs. They didn’t want to commit. They wanted to sleep at my house, eat my food, and have a mommy bang maid. They wanted me to be their mommy and never complain about it.

So I started to date a bit more ruthlessly. I built a roster. I raised my standards. I stopped being committed to them before they were committed to me. But it didn’t go exactly as I planned.

This isn’t the part of the story where the princess gets the prince. The is the part where she gets locked in a tower.

I played a high stakes game and lost. Now I’m forced to marry the most ruthless man I know. Play ruthless games, win ruthless prizes.

So much for the fairy tale…this is a cautionary tale.

Note: This is a contemporary reverse harem dark romance with HEA and no cliffhangers.

RH/Why choose dark romance in Dual Style Narration. Sebastian York did a fantastic job of capturing the subtle differences between each character's voice and their mannerisms as a whole. Love!

A somewhat dark reverse harem with a twist. A trio of affluent fraternity brothers who bonded through the hazing ordeals later in life happen across the heroine. The Heroine, after being dragged along as girlfriend for years only to be dropped for someone else has decided to turn the tables and started a dating rotation of three men. As one messed up or a better option came along, she would rotate the least option out of the pool. This effectively resulted in the cream of the crop for men in her dating pool. One thing about the top of the dating pool is there are fewer to pick from and chances are high they may know one another. Now we have the basis of the story told from various perspectives while jumping along the timeline of events. Surprisingly, this worked for this story. There is some bisexuality within the covers of this book, and some may be surprised by whom, yet it fits with the storyline and only helps to strengthen the harem. With my time constraints audiobooks are my way of maximizing it and this review is about the audiobook version of this book. While I am not sure I would have invested the time in the story had I stopped and read it, I did enjoy it in its audio form.

I was surprised by this story; however, I couldn't quite reconcile the female protagonist, Livia, with the way she was written. I liked that she was upfront about her expectations with the men that she was dating, and I approved of her decision to see more than one guy at a time. What I didn't understand was why she buckled under the pressure applied by Soren without trying to fight it at all, as she seemed pretty independent up to that point. There were several steamy scenes included in the story. I thought the dual narrations provided by Sebastian York and Meg Sylvan were great as their performance brought the characters to life. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions on the audiobook.

Once again Ms. Thomas delivers. I refuse to post spoilers so this review is rather vague, but OMG is this book wonderful. Nothing is what it seems. Livia is our heroine and through a twisted weaving tale, we get her story. I loved the convoluted timeline, that allowed the story to play out, without spoiling the ending. I felt like this was a refreshing twist on a common trope and I'm truly amazed at the author's ability to deliver on it. This will be on my re-read list for sure.

The narration just made this book even better for me. The male characters didn't sound quite like I had in my head but were still great! I highly recommend this one
