This book is the autobiographical account of an early convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("Mormons") and pioneer, Alfred Douglas Young. In his own words, he describes his family history, his conversion to the Church, his baptism, and ordination to the Priesthood. Shortly after his ordination, he experienced an out-of-body experience. The angel who appeared took him on a guided tour of the heavens. He also saw the divine establishment of the Church, future events leading up to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, the fate of Satan, and the future of the United States, among other things. He also saw the post-apocalyptic glory of this earth. He describes his subsequent missionary service and the trials, persecutions, and miracles that attended him and his brother and companion, William Young. Finally, he describes his trial before the Nauvoo High Council upon his return, and how his refusal to deny the power of God was handled by various Church leaders.
