In the heart of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, citizens of Jessup begin to experience strange encounters in and around the Amen Swamp, a haunted tract of land with an unforgiving history. When a local recluse, Ned Crosby, hits what is believed to be a large bear with his car, people soon start disappearing. After a stranger from Montana mysteriously shows up with theories of his own, Sheriff Ross Pickett is faced with a disturbing premonition that something evil might be lurking about. Afraid to confide in those who are closest to him for fear of being ridiculed, Pickett must battle his own inner demons and confront his destiny within the confines of the Amen.

This book was highly recommended to me by my husband, who had read the paperback version. When the audio version came out, I decided to give it a shot. Although I am not a Bigfoot enthusiast, it ended up being one of those books that I just couldn't put down, or in this case, one that I could not stop listening to. It was the first time I heard the narrator, James R Tepin Jr,, and thought he did an amazing job. I loved the characters in the book, and how their stories developed and came together. The book was very well written, had a great flow, and sweeps you up into the developing plot. I listened to the book while driving to and from work, and even listened to it at times while I was working. I even dreamt about the characters in the book at times. I am a huge lover of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and loved that the author used it as a setting for his story. If there is a sequel, my husband and I will be one of the first to buy it!

Audible book was recommended by a friend and it was great. Interesting story and great narration. If you've lived in or been to Michigan, there are a lot of references to Michigan towns and history, which adds to the story. Highly recommend.

Great story and narration

It was a good story. A little long winded, but good. There was a lot of time spent on characters and details that I felt were unnecessary to the story. Other than that I liked the story.

It was good
