For years, an international criminal organization, originally from India, has attempted to wrest the strategically important Kingdom of Denmark from the hands of King Bjornson, the greatest ruler of his age. Using their time-honored methods of blackmail, extortion, and assassination, they attempted to overthrow his kingdom. Infuriated by their failures, these killers, led by a religious fanatic and devotee of the Goddess Kali and her demon lover Namuci, incited an attack on the Roskilde, the fortress port of Denmark. To ensure success, they have brought a powerful mage who can assassinate victims as they sleep. As the King of Dreams, he never failed to kill his victims in his nearly two hundred years of life. With their city ringed with thousands of enemies, defeat and slaughter seem inevitable. Yet there is hope, for Bjornson has surrounded himself with leaders and warriors of the highest quality. There is also a Runemaster and his family who did so much to foil previous attacks. But the issue is in doubt as the fire arrows sail over the walls and siege engines approach the city gates. Both sides look hopefully to the sea for aid to tip the balance. Will help come in time? If so, whose will it be?
