Widely hailed for its historical resonance, Daniel Black's The Sacred Place is a powerful examination of racial tensions in 1955 Mississippi.

Visiting from Chicago, 14-year-old Clement is unfamiliar with the social customs of the tiny town of Money. Striding into a general store, he offends the white store clerk by not placing his nickel in her hand. This seemingly innocuous act leads to a horrific murder and a conflict drawn along racial lines.

Daniel Black is one of my favorite authors on the planet, and to couple his story with Kevin R. Free's unmatched narration made for one hell of an enjoyable listen. The story and performance brought me to tears; definitely a must-listen for everyone!

Another treasure all around

there was so much that I learned. about the struggle and how it changed the face of history. but there was one character that I hated. and there was no reason for the portrayal of insanity that followed. it made me sick to think that the best of us is portrayed as stupid crazy to the point of delusion.
