As far as matrimonial prospects were concerned, Lucy Bliss was told she'd make an excellent clergyman's wife.

Her mother had loftier aspirations, however, for Lucy's lovely younger sister, Belinda. Belinda would marry a duke, more specifically the duke of Wardshire. Lucy was truly horrified. "Lucifer" Wardshire was rumored to be as wicked as the devil, with orgies and mistresses - and worse.

As the London season unfolded, Lucy couldn't decide who was more abominable, her vulgar mama or the arrogant yet disconcertingly handsome duke. But Lucy vowed to go to any lengths to protect her sister, even if her mission should take her into the very arms of the devilish duke himself.

I really disliked the narrator’s voice and I usually have no trouble at all with narrators.

A good story

This is a light, breezy listen. Something to have on while I do my house cleaning for the holidays. The two daughters Lucy and Belinda were sweet and likeable. The hero was divine. I liked the snappy dialogue and the storyline. I really appreciated that in this Chesney novel that there was no evil villain going to do something cruel and stupid to the heroine.. Getting tired of that plot line.

Cute, easy listen.

I really liked this story. Typical M.C. Beaton. I really liked the idea of him having an AWFUL reputation. But why oh why do they let Charlotte Anne Dore have the job of narrator? She is so so so VERY BAD!!!! If I could have given the performance rating of no stars at all, I would do so every time.

Narration like nails on a chalkboard

Good for an easy listen while cooking dinner and doing housework. A light hearted story. Try this author for several of these types of stories.
