By USA Today, Audible, and five-time Wall Street Journal best-selling author Carolyn Jourdan.

This fun romp with supernatural elements, witty banter, suspense, romantic comedy, and a few paranormal elements make for an entertaining adventure set in the present day but touching on history from medieval Chartres to the Civil War.

Phoebe McFarland has just lost her job as a rural home health care nurse in White Oak, Tennessee, a sleepy rural community nestled in the mist-shrouded Smoky Mountains. But then she's unexpectedly offered a ritzy-sounding position as a private duty nurse to an enigmatic scholar.

Unfortunately before she can start her upscale new life, Phoebe is unwittingly caught up in a medical emergency with Nick, a total stranger. The mismatched couple is forced to cooperate as they flee professional killers who now have Phoebe in their crosshairs, as well.

Will Phoebe and friends be able to prevent some scary guys from killing her and Nick over a mysterious book that's not even finished?

Listening to this book was pure fun. The beginning is a wee bit slow but then the story just takes off. The premise keeps changing and the characters are not what they appear to be initially. I highly recommend this book. I hope there is a sequel!

It starts a little slow and ends rather abruptly, but the best thing is, I can't wait for the next one!!

What a delightful book

Decidedly fiction that defies pigeonholing! Begins with a really startling event, progresses through appreciation of the Appalachians and the solidarity of the people, and spends much time with specific conspiracies and an unusual take on mysticism. It's really a wild ride that I didn't want to end!
When I was surfing through kindle books that I had which have audio for reduced price, I found that I had the ebook in my TBR pile since July of 2014!
Pam Dougherty is really great as narrator!

Fun and car chases!

A really funny book, well-written, with only the usual errors in grammar. The narrator does a fine job, although she has some difficulty distinguishing male voices. It is enjoyable unless you would be uncomfortable with the denigration of the Christian faith, and the enthusiastic promotion of Pantheism: Buddhism, Hinduism, Baha'ism, and the occult. Also there are Gnostic themes, teaching that only a few select people can access the higher, secret, religious mysteries.

Some reviewers have mistakenly said that the book is blatantly Christian. The opposite is true. All major tenets of the Christian faith are rejected. Also, the author omits the down-sides of Asian religion: the caste system, the disincentives to charity, the absence of a sure hope, the absence of forgiveness and restoration.

The marketing of new-age pantheism is woven throughout the book, and clearly stated on pages 215 through 230. If you are a new-age fan, you will love this book.

This is a tract promoting Pantheism
