Good but the subplot …

Great police procedural but I may have to abandon the series (if I can even finish this one; I’m halfway). The main murder mystery is very good in this latest one, but the Derwent subplot is frankly insufferable. He’s not likable anymore, with few if any redeeming characteristics and in real life Maeve’s obsession with him is hardly credible anymore. And just when you think the subplot with him is done it rears its head again. I’m away to Dervla McT’s latest next!
Update. I finished it. I guess many readers love the Derwent drama but not this one.
As for the main murder I was a wee bit disappointed in the dénouement. . It turned into an Agatha Christie-esque resolution ….the butler in the pantry kind of.

Luv these books and the latest one doesn’t disappoint. Can’t wait for the next one.

Amazing!

This series immerses you in the characters and storylines with such vigor. Jane’s style of writing lets you feel like you are there and can visualize every aspect of events. I will add that it’s about time…if you know, you know! I listen to this series over and over and can’t get enough. I look forward to the next one and am hoping the positivity continues on.
