There are reasons why some of the most famous serial killers in the world have names that stick in our memories, send shivers up our spines, make us double-check to make sure the doors are locked at night, and maybe peek under the bed to be sure nothing is lurking there before we turn off the lights.

These are monsters who are real, whose crimes are so reprehensible, so horrific, that they become seared in our memories.

For this true crime anthology, we've combed the serial killer files to give you a closer, more intimate look at some of the worst of the worst from the world of serial killer, combining multiple stories into one perfect late-night book that's just the thing to keep you up at night, unable to stop listening.

For those who love criminology, who can't put down the latest true crime stories, this collection of stories rivals the best serial killer books, and give you deeper insight into killers ranging from the charismatic, cunning Ted Bundy to the long-abused Aileen Wuornos, whose unimaginable troubles finally came to a very violent head.

This diverse collection of serial killer stories, culled from the annals of history, is an ideal choice for the true crime buff who wonders why the monsters of our imaginations came to life and walked the streets, lurking in dark corners to wait for their next victim.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

In my opinion, the non-linear storytelling didn't really work for this book. It would've been better if the author finished each of the stories in sequence, linearly; instead of jumping around.

What aspect of Kevin Kollins’s performance would you have changed?

The narrator's voice made it sound like I'm listening to a documentary; which isn't bad in itself, given the subject matter. But I was expecting more of a horror story vibe, which I didn't get from the narration.

Any additional comments?

I received this audiobook for free from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

Alright book, performance could've been better.

Sometimes it seems that the writing style is hard to follow. Or maybe it’s the pronunciation of some of the words but overall, it’s a pretty good book. Seems pretty accurate. Though the narrator’s upbeat tone is a strange juxtaposition against some of the more gruesome details.

Pretty Good Overview

If you are wanting to listen to a book about serial killers, the majority of the book is great. The last several chapters however, are not about serial killers. It delves into perceived hate crimes. The reason I chose this book was specifically for serial killer content.

Not a book specifically about serial killers.

If you could sum up The Serial Killer Books in three words, what would they be?

Good True Crime

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Serial Killer Books?

The Murder Castle was particularly interesting because I grew up just outside of Chicago and had no idea about this history until I heard it in the audiobook.

Have you listened to any of Kevin Kollins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't, but he was very good. Articulate with good pacing.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was extremely appalled at the way a human being could so callously take the life of another without remorse.
