Kristy Martin is 20-something, single, and living it up in Chicago. She has a crew of close girlfriends to keep her social calendar active and is celebrating finally securing employment in her chosen field.

While always free-spirited, Kristy is getting tired of the revolving door - or, more accurately, bed - of random guys and failed dates and comes up with a plan to get her act together when it comes to the opposite sex. That idea is quickly shot down by her bestie Breely Laver and replaced with a bet she can’t refuse - a free trip to Paris with her yoga instructor BFF if she can go six months without sex.

Enter charming, sexy, delicious Grey Grahl. Kristy tries to navigate a spicy new relationship without giving away her bet, while also dealing with an incredibly sensitive crisis at her job. Her first year as a full-time elementary school guidance counselor starts off with a devastating situation with a young student, and Kristy finds herself struggling to stay above water, in both her professional and personal lives. With her girlfriends as a support system, Kristy navigates troubled times at the school and agrees to come clean with Grey.

This first book in a six-part girlfriend series introduces you to Kristy, Breely, Nora, Lauren, Tinsley, and Scarlett and takes listeners to six individual stories about relationships, career choices, personal conflicts, and the bonds of friendship.

Kristy is the first book out of a series of 6 that follows a group of twenty-something’s women navigating through love and life. As a twenty-something reader, I thoroughly enjoyed listening in on Kristy’s story. The awkwardness of dating and the scariness of a first real job problem resonated with me, and I can’t wait to hear more about this girl group as Samantha publishes each perspective (Scarlett is teased at the end of this book, and I’m definitely interested in her story).

I was thrilled to be gifted this ARC through Samantha’s YouTube channel (which I also recommend), and it didn’t disappoint! I don’t normally reach for this genre, but it was refreshing and I really enjoyed it. My only critique isn’t about the content of the book, I think I’ve discovered I don’t totally love audio books. It’s hard for me to engage with male characters if I can clearly tell it’s a female voicing the character (if that makes sense?). If that doesn’t bother you, definitely give the audio a go! If it does, I would purchase the e-book.

Great chick lit! Would recommend a read

Romance typically isn’t my genre but I’ve watched Samantha March on YouTube and this series sounded interesting. I loved it. It reminds me of Molly Harper without the supernatural aspect.

Romance and comedy all rolled into one

The worst part about The Six: Kristy: Book 1 was that I couldn’t read the next one right away! Such a good story line, with so many relatable characters! Can’t wait for the next one!

Awesome Read!

This normally isn't my genre when it comes to reading, but after giving it a try and hanging on through some slower paced bits, I found myself waiting for more after the last chapter! The narrator does a great job with voicing the characters, and is clear, animated, and well paced. As mentioned before, some parts felt a little slow, as most of the action seemed to take place toward the last 1/3 of the story, but I am definitely keen to follow the Six now! There is a MAJOR part in the story that felt quite jarring, but I'm hoping this becomes something useful to the story in future and not just a shock point. Rooting for Kristi and hoping to find out more!

Great light reading!
