A Kids' Indie Next Selection

A fast Thief, A smart Princess, A ditsy Prince

Smart dialogue, Interesting plot but it is overall too dark and horrifying. The images stay with you in a way that is nightmarish and wholly unpleasant. This feels like a dark dream and a fantasy rolled into one. The character of Tash is fun and well done. Katherine is a gem although her life feels too un-real. I am not sure which of her lovers to root for as one doesn't seem to really love her but wants her to be with him. While the other seems to put revenge above any romantic feelings he may have for her. This seems like an ill fated love story on all accounts. The only person who seems to be having a good time of everything is Katherine's ditsy cousin who only just learned he was a prince and doesn't seem to take anything seriously except his infatuation with a total stranger sent to sell him over to his evil uncle to be tortured and killed.
Sally Green is an amazing writer. I loved her previous series Half Bad and Half Lost and Half Wild. unfortunately for me even though I love fantasy and enjoyed the writing I cannot read the further installments of this series. The word pictures are too strong and frankly frightening. Katherine's father is the Monster of all Monsters and I hope she's okay and has a nice life with one of those suitors. Me on the other hand -I cannot bear to listen-#hopingitturnsoutgoodforyougirl-

good story

Even though I enjoyed this story there were a few characters that i thought were very annoying. At times I couldn't imagine how all of the pieces of the story fit but enjoyed watching them come together.
