Deep within the mist-shrouded forests of the Great Smoky Mountains, wildlife researcher Caleb Foster vanishes after sending a frantic message: something big, bipedal, and terrifying is stalking him. A team of park rangers sets out to find him but quickly discovers disturbing signs—massive footprints, makeshift tree shelters, and ritualistically arranged animal carcasses. As they journey deeper into the mountains, they uncover an intelligent, and territorial race of creatures living in the shadows. Trapped between the mysterious forces of the wilderness and their own secrets, the rangers must fight to survive. But some secrets are better left buried, and the creatures have no intention of letting them escape.
