A classic tale featuring two of the most-memorable characters in sword and sorcery, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser.

Over a span of 50 years, the late Fritz Leiber wrote dozens of adventures, set in the fictional city of Lankhmar, featuring the seven-foot-tall barbarian and the diminuitive thief. The stories were recognized with both the Hugo and Nebula Awards.

Although lusty fantasy is not something I care for, I believe it is more of a cultural backdrop to a larger world. It felt necessary in order to introduce certain norms. I hope the rest of the series tends more toward intrigue, action, and character depth. I am glad I finished it, the ending far exceeded the beginning. Very poetically written.

Great intro to one half of the famous (infamous?) Duo. The story is short but sweet, not necessarily in a tender way but in a “dude that’s sweet” sort of way.

Classic and captivating
