Oliver Lawe's biggest concern at the start of Monday was to stave off boredom while he was on rotation home. That changed when the base exploded with action when martial law was declared. Arming themselves to the teeth, Oliver and his squad rode a tank in the convoy out, prepared to tackle anything to preserve peace.

When a figure throwing magic and monsters appeared, Oliver knew they weren't prepared at all. By a series of bizarre events, Oliver somehow managed to survive the onslaught that ripped his ranks apart, but only at a great cost.

Finding himself in a new world and in the company of two mysterious women, Oliver braves the landscape, meets a tribe of fierce snake-women, and is forced to get creative against the evil force that forever changed his life.

Author needs to do more research

I can't get past the fact that the author keeps having the characters saluting NCOs, wearing full battle rattle inside a tank, or smoking in a motorpool.
