The 154 sonnets of William Shakespeare contain some of the best-known, most-quoted lines in the English language. This collection brings dozens of those immortal poems to vivid life. Included here are: Numbers 18 ("Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?"), 130 ("My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun"), 147 ("My love is as a fever"), 151 ("Love is too young to know what conscience is"), and many more. Almost everything about the sonnets is controversial: the identity of the recipients, the young man and the Dark Lady, the dates the sonnets were written - and some even question if they were indeed written by the Bard. But their beauty and eloquence are beyond reproach.(P) Recorded Books, Inc. Classics Drama & Plays European Literary History & Criticism Poetry Shakespeare World Literature

I enjoyed the little comments on the sonnets, but the recording felt a little old. It was a good review of some of the sonnets I went through in secondary school.

Excellent

This is a series of very well narrated Sonnets by William Shakespeare. There are very brief explanations. This fine work does NOT include every sonnet. I did enjoy it. Thank You…

I enjoyed this recording many times when I got it from my local library on cassette, so I was eager to get it on Audible. Unfortunately, the digital conversion of this title is very poor, with low gain levels and compression problems that cause much of the speech to sound slurred. I would encourage audible to get a better master from Recorded Books and re-record these classic masterpieces read by the late Frank Muller.

Excellent Recording, Lousy Transfer
