After learning that his grandfather has been arrested for murder, celebrity stand-up comedian, Chucky Riles, and his business manager, Ronnie Duncan, take a hiatus from the entertainment industry to go back to their hometown to assist Chucky’s grandfather, Kirk Smoot. Once they find out Kirk has confessed to murdering his best friend, Chucky and Ronnie find themselves involved in an investigation which goes back years in the making.

During their search for the truth, Chucky and Ronnie rekindle relationships with people of their hometown including their two old girlfriends they had left behind two years prior. Almost losing their lives, Chucky and Ronnie also come close to losing their life-long friendship with one another.

The Stand-Up is a cozy mystery novella that explores how the modernization of a once rural town has changed the physical and social fabric of a place that was founded on the harvesting of cypress timber and cotton. This mystery, which involves local politics, international corruption, unforeseen obstacles, modern day dilemas, romance, and a touch of Southern culture, keeps readers wondering until the very end. How will they find the truth?
