In a small Arizona town, a man counts his blessings: a loving wife, two teenage daughters, and a job that allows him to work at home. Then "The Store" announces plans to open a local outlet, which will surely finish off the small downtown shops. His concerns grow when "The Store's" builders ignore all the town's zoning laws during its construction. Then dead animals are found on "The Store's" grounds. Inside, customers are hounded by obnoxious sales people, and strange products appear on the shelves. Before long the town's remaining small shop owners disappear, and "The Store" spreads its influence to the city council and the police force, taking over the town! It's up to one man to confront "The Store's" mysterious owner and to save his community, his family, and his life!

I have not been this compelled by a book in a long time! I found myself thinking about the story line throughout my day even after I wasn't listening to my story anymore. It's been a long time since I could not figure out how the story was going to end! This is a unique and very creative story that is based on some scary and realistic potentials of our world. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!

Wow! Spooky, Scary and downright Gross at times!

Another wonderfully horrendous book by Bentley Little! If you enjoyed The Resort or The University you will love this book.

Bentley has done it again!

The tower seems a little close to the Stephen King Dark Tower.....hmmm.
Story was good, not great, but passed the time on my car trip.

A little long, not much excitement.

For those that enjoy twists and turns (and occasional shocks) this one is definitely recommended!! I found myself looking forward to each chapter with anticipation while delving into the social ramifications of at least part of this story. It shines a light on greed, lust, envy, corruption and the need for power. It is up to the listeners to decide if the author crossed moral lines and if there was elements of the Supernatural at play. I gave it 4 stars due to occasions throughout the story that defied logical conclusions and seemed to be too neatly explained away (or
not explained at all) as well as the often robotic narration that might be attributed to enhance a similar story theme. Despite implausibility, the story and characters kept me awake and engrossed even during times of repugnance. It will be interesting to see how the author’s other books compare and contrast to this one.

An original look at how corporate greed leads to multi-societal breakdowns
