Story continued with smooth transition. I would recommend this book as Eva continues her story which branches off of Shea’s story,

An Amazing World.

I loved Shia and Fallen and my love for Eva and Caden is equal. I hope this is not the end of the series and maybe have more characters have their own books. This is a series that you need to read in order for full enjoyment. Great adventure, characters, mythological beings, and world building. I will be rereading the series in the future. This was maybe my least favorite of the series, mind you I still really enjoyed the story and I love having the gang back, and the newest Tinrin was a hoot. The story line had a just a little bit too much should of, would of, could in the plot and it didn’t do any favors for the progression, but about halfway through the book that ends and the story progresses. Narrator was good.

I decided to re-listen to the entire Broken Lands series before I started The Storm's Whisper. I'm so glad I did...this was an awesome addition to the saga. Eva's story is deep and full of emotion and integrates nicely into the mythos of the Pathfinders. Definitely another win for T A White and another win for her fans. I'm hoping for many more books in this fascinating world.

Ends not with a bang, but a whisper

It felt like book 4 was 25% filler and this book was %75 filler; if the filler had been cut out, these two books would have made a single, fantastic five star book. As-is, I liked book 4 a lot, but this one annoyed me and gave very little payoff.

The author’s trademark formula was on full display: the characters spent the majority of the book traveling, harried by an unknown enemy, forming uneasy alliances, torturing captured red shirt foot soldiers (and joking about said torture), ruminating on their past/future, and then the FMC nobly (or foolishly) goes off to face the enemy alone, where the enemy monologues longer than it takes to vanquish him.

Seriously, the diversions to think or info dump were exasperating. The worst ones were in the middle of the action scenes, like where Calden is engaging the enemy, but the listener is told all about Calden’s rise from a discarded child to Fallon’s cold Commander, and how Calden doesn’t really like to kill but he’s good at it, and actually it’s nice that he’s finally getting to do something, although he really should have married Eva in the Trateri custom … I’m sorry, wasn’t Calden in a life or death battle?

Even the supporting characters get the thought diversion treatment, like how in the middle of another life and death action scene, the listener is told about healer Chiron’s backstory, and Chiron’s apprentice, and how Chiron is just as much a warrior as he is a healer…

And where one awkwardly placed info dump would be survivable, we get multiple info dumps about the same dagnabbit topic, over and over and over again. Dead. Horse. Beaten. Again.

For all the repetition and rumination, there’s nothing new here except some new Trateri warriors to provide banter and torture jokes.
