The Renfeld's are a happy couple residing in a gated community of suburban Surrey. Mr Renfeld being a successful journalist with The Times newspaper in central London.
Their life was one of routine with change unwelcome, that is until an extremely cold winter caused Mr Renfeld to speak in German only. This meant, he was no longer able to continue work as a journalist during the winter months and a change in lifestyle beckoned for the Renfelds. A connection was made by the doctor that the presence of snow triggered the German language, and Renfeld had now the opportunity to live his lifelong dream as a ski instructor in the Alps of Europe.
