The end of the world with dragons and Levels

The world ends in a slew of blue notification boxes, bringing with it a game-like existence including monsters and Classes. Now, John has to make his way from Kluane National Park in the Yukon to Whitehorse through monster infested forests. But, that's not enough; because he'll need to help rebuild civilization itself around the System, aliens and monsters. And, as always, humanity will be its own greatest enemy.

This collection contains the first three books of the highly rated System Apocalypse series (Life in the North, Redeemer of the Dead and the Cost of Survival) and completes the first arc—Whitehorse and the Yukon and the first year of the apocalypse.

The System Apocalypse contains elements of games like level ups, experience, enchanted materials, a sarcastic spirit, mecha, a beguiling dark elf, monsters, minotaurs, a fiery red head and a semi-realistic view on violence and its effects. Does not include harems.

I like the book and I hope to listen to more of the books later. I just need a break. I like how he knows his own issues and is trying to work through them. That is good. The fighting is good as well. The abilities are different, but very good. The relationships are weird though. He fawns over a guy he knows had an ability to make you attracted to him. He is so excited to make this guy happy, so when the guy says something to hurt his feelings he throws a fit. Its like he just met him and is whipped. Yet the woman he likes actually does stuff for him. She tries a lot for him and even saves him. It just seems like the author was trying to show people he is ok with homosexuality, but tried too hard. Anyways more happens and the outcome is ok. i still think he has to do better with relationships.

Overall B+

every time it feels like the characters are moving forward with their development, mentally, physically or whatever something happens and they regress back to what they were before and they keep going on about what is is and you would think they would get it through their skulls eventually that the world has changed and they need to move on but from beginning to end they never ask for help. they never ask if anyone else needs help. they just stumble through life and then preach that they should ask for help but they never do performance wise. Great! absolutely amazing! Love the character voices. The story was kind of predictable

Good but pretentious

Huge fan of Nick Podehl, and the partnership with Tao Wong is fabulous! Love the story progression, ruggedness, and great range of voices. Excited to bing the rest of the series! Thanks for the fantastic experience so far :)

Struggled to finish this one. the first boom had me like 50/50 whether I was in to it or not. book to is basically equally as bad and forced myself to finish book 3. My problems with the story is the main character, I've listened to books where people complained that the main character was a whiner but in this story it starts off him complaining about why he's right and everyone else is wrong. The main character is a baby about everything. He basically has untreated ADHD and anger issues and acts like a jerk to everyone. The main character acts like a child the whole time Richard and Ali were the best part of the whole story and the love interest is basically a cliché of most female characters. Plus the story telling is poor, the narrator was great but the story was not captivating.

Frustrating

are all litrpg writers snowflakes now? the wah wah wah words hurt as much as weapons crew? The ohhh noooo whoa is me I'm going to somehow get stronger despite actively sabatoguing myself group? The let me lie to everyone around me because of irrational fears or cowardice collective? The let me justify my bad behavior because you don't know what I have been thru and I'm not going to tell you what that was, gang... Are thse all written by the same AI or what? goodbye litrpg, it's been a good run. way to ruin a genre
