Life at 60 isn't quite what Kay Carrera expected. She's working as a skip-tracer for a PI who is desperate to land his own reality TV show. She has a new roommate who arrived with more than the usual amount of baggage. And her attempts at knitting are less than stellar - way less than stellar. Worse, the cataract surgery that restored her sight has also delivered an unexpected and disturbing side-effect.

Kay sees ghosts. And when the dead turn to her for help, she just can't say no.

It didn't keep my attention at all. Very predictable ...Without any of the twist or surprises you hope to have.

A bit too slow and non eventful

I loved that Kay (MC) is a skip tracer. It made the storyline new and interesting for me. The characters were well developed and relatable. The narrator was easy to listen to and gave characters a voice of their own. It kept my interest throughout the book. The author and narrator are new to me, but I'm so glad I gave it a try. I will be continuing the series and would recommend to anyone who likes cozy mysteries and easy, fun listening.

Easy listen, enjoyable story!

Libby Howard has crafted a great storyline for the first installment in this series. The characters and mystery are well developed. I look forward to the next in this series.

This was another pleasant surprise that was an impulse buy during an Audible sale. I'm not really a fan of "Cozy" mysteries (or at least I haven't been in the past). I went into the story fairly blind so I was impressed with the fact that the story grabbed my interest fairly quickly.

This is the first book in the series, so we are learning about the world and the history a little at a time. The female MC is a 60 year old woman whose husband recently passed away after a long debilitating illness. She ends up having to rent out/share her house with a friend of the family who is a Judge with two teenage children. He is in the middle of an acrimonious divorce and needed a place to provide some stability as he is fighting for joint custody of the kids.

We are not given ALL of the info, but it looks like there are also going to be supernatural elements in this series (she can see ghosts). The female MC is a skip tracer and tends to involve herself in things that she finds curious and there happens to be a murder right off the bat.

The narrator did a fine job and something that REALLY surprised me was the fact that the author of this series is actually Debra Dunbar who writes another series that I have enjoyed for a very long time (The Imp Series). So for me, this all means that I am going to be looking for book 2 :)

Another Pleasant Surprise
