After a hundred years of watching humans make bad decisions, anyone would be sick of their job as peacekeeper.

Reihan is no exception. Created to deal with humans who lose control over their manifestation abilities, she is more than ready for a vacation. Worse still, virtually all humans in the Travelling City can manifest. That is, they can shape reality according to every whim of their imagination. Keeping the peace among them would be more than enough to keep Reihan busy, but people like Phillippe manage to make things worse still, both for himself and for everyone around him.

To improve his social standing, Phillippe drenched himself in the city’s collective subconscious and strengthened his inborn manifestation powers. Even though he shouldn’t be, he seems fine, crowned as the new star escort in the Brothel of Transformative Curiosities. Reihan has seen this story play out before. But Phillippe is far too charming, far too kind, and far too inconsolable for her to simply look away.

The Travelling City is a dark fantasy mystery packed with romance and even more existential dread; set in a whimsical, bizarre and ever-changing world.

I was entertained by this unique fantasy. I admired the creativity of the settings and the unusual creatures and non-creatures which populated this novel. I was a little confused by the description of Reihan's personality and then some of Reihan's actions; however, since this was a place of alternate realities, having an unreliable protagonist made sense. I thought Camryn McGlynn's narration was great, and her performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
