Erik West is an ex-combat medic. He and his best friend, marine recon sniper Jimmy "Rugrat" Rodriguez, have been thrown into another world. They've become one of the "cursed". Now they have to figure out this fantasy world, where cultivation, skills, and abilities must be grown...or death awaits.

Ascension is just around the corner, whatever that means. But they'll need to master magic and temper their bodies to survive. In a world where your personal strength is your greatest value, Erik and Rugrat have to start from the bottom. But they've cut their teeth in conflicts all across Earth and honed their skills over years of training while creating a bond and upholding their honors and oaths.

It's not a question of if they are ready for the 10 realms, but instead are the 10 realms ready for them?

I've been listening to the series since only the 2 week curse was available on audible. The change in narrator and and subsequent re release of the earlier books the earlier books definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. That said, when you listen to books narrated by Neil, you need to listen to them at a reduced speed because because he talks quite fast and it blurs the characters a bit.

I am a huge fan of the story and The method for progression in the universe is a unique spin and the mechanics of how everything work are quite interesting and well-thought-out. I have listened all the way through to the 9th book and while there are some dull spotsome dull spots the overall progression is rewarding and the story has kept my interest for the entire time.

This is not Classic or high literature in any sense of meaning however if you are looking for that, litrpg and cultivation novels are probably not the place to find it. But if you're looking for the the literature version of big buddy action film with fantasy and cultivation this is for you. It has a great balance of character building progression and progression and fighting as well as character development for both main and non-main characters. This is a fairly well flushed out universe where peripheral characters come in-and-out and have developed in the meantime.

A rewarding listen, even with the new narrator

This has been an amazing beginning to a series I am enthralled about now. I can’t wait to listen to the rest. If you are a fan of portal fantasy or Isekai anime, you will love this book series.

So I admit the start was a bit rough for me. So much going on but when it finally picked up it was nonstop go go go. Tactics. And dope friendship. Really enjoyed this one. Neil Hellengers is a great narrator.

Crazy
