Howie’s group disembark from the Isle of Wight, but when the ferry they take breaks down they climb aboard a Royal Navy supply vessel at anchor outside Portsmouth Harbour to find a huge horde of undead. We meet Maddox and a group of council estate children who have survived the apocalypse by taking refuge in a cannabis plantation.
When a horde of undead attack the children, Howie tries to save them only to find they turn on him. Eventually a truce is called, and an uneasy alliance begins to develop.

This Part 5 introduces the "gang" of kids led by Maddox. I cannot decide whether I like or hate Maddox. I tend to dislike him more often than not. He does not treat Howie with the respect and appreciation he is due and that offends me!! I dearly love Howie, Dave, Clarence and the "Lads" and I do not like when they are not treated well. This Part 5 is a little different from the rest of the books in the Series. It is still outstanding, but does not feature the Living Army as much as other books. Haywood continues to create outstanding characters with his excellent writing and Morgan continues to bring them alive with his excellent reading. This is a gripping series. I started with the free Deleted Scene (an hour long book) and was hooked. I listened to all that were in Audible.com and then started on the Kindle versions for the rest. As the new audio books were added, I listened to them even though I had read the Kindle versions. I have now finished Day Nineteen and must wait until Haywood write the next one. I am so addicted that the wait will be unbearable!! The series never gets flat or predictable. It is always interesting and compelling from Day One to Day Nineteen.
Love this series!!
