This intense story is a profound testament to the power of storytelling and the resilience of the human spirit. From the book’s very beginning, I found myself on an emotional rollercoaster, experiencing shock, tears, humility, and ultimately, a change in who I am. At the heart of this remarkable narrative lies Sophie Siegel, a character whose journey transcends the boundaries of fiction to touch upon profound truths. David's portrayal of Sophie's experiences is not merely brave—it is nothing short of extraordinary. Through his deft narrative skill, he brings to life a story of the human condition that challenges conventions. In a landscape saturated with narratives that play it safe, "The Vanishing" stands out as a beacon of courage and authenticity. David's willingness to push the boundaries of storytelling is nothing short of inspiring, and it is his writing “bravery” that sets it apart as a singular achievement.

This book was recommended to me. Some many emotions throughout the book. I couldn’t wait for the next time to listen. It was very well written, researched, detailed, and read. Amy Ann Weideman did an amazing job reading and assisting you in getting lost in the story with her different voices and accents. It’s really really good!!!
