It’s a battle of technology, with the two sides just barely staying ahead of one another. Then Thomas Cole arrives from 1913. Tom’s a “can-do” man who improves the Terrans’ Icarus bomb. When the fleets engage, Terra suffers a terrible defeat, but it is also discovered that Tom’s redesign of the Icarus enables Terra to move beyond the Centaurian perimeter, and to expand with no further harassment by the Centaurians.
