As the women of the Clifford Charity School for Wayward Girls fearlessly bring corrupt aristocrats to justice, they put their lives - and their hearts - on the line....

Going undercover as a governess is a first for Cecilia Gilchrist. But once she's installed in Darlington Castle, discovering whether the mysterious marquess murdered his wife proves more daunting than she imagined. Dashing widower Gideon Rhys, marquess of Darlington, is clearly harboring secrets - but is it possible a cold-blooded killer lurks behind his devastating gaze? Trailing his every move only brings her closer to him. But if her heart misleads her, she could pay with her life....

He never should have let her into his world, but now that Cecilia has infiltrated his home, his senses, and his heart, Gideon will do anything to keep her safe from the darkness that has robbed him of everything. Yet keeping her close only makes it more challenging. For the more Gideon falls for Cecilia, the greater the danger to her....

Contains mature themes.

I enjoyed this one better than the first. I felt like the voices were more appropriate for the characters. I loved the epilogue.

Nice little mystery romance

With all the heroes jaded by love, it was refreshing to find one who adored his wife. His relationship with his niece was adorable and his heroine was the perfect mix of vulnerability and determination. While the mystery aspect of this was rather obvious, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story in the slightest.

I could nitpick a little about her taking a little too long to really remove Gideon as a suspect because it would have been obvious to most anyone from very early on, but I get that it was part of her character arc that she felt that her tendency to lean on emotional intelligence was a weakness that couldn’t be trusted.

Truly it was such an enjoyable book. Off to the next in the series.

Gideon is quite possibly the best hero ever.

I highly recommend all her books.

However, the one thing that I find difficult is the inner dialogues.. sometimes they go on for so long I have rewind several minutes to remember what they were talking about in the first place. I also imagine painfully long silences while they just stare at each other.

I love this author.

I really enjoyed reading The Virgin Who Vindicated Lord Darling. It felt like a Gothic Romance Novel with a hint of Jane Eyre type style of storyline!

Lord Darlington is believed to have murdered his deceased wife Cassandra. She is suppose to be haunting the Darlington Castle. Cecilia is sent to investigate. But finds herself falling in love with 4 year old Isabelle, Gideon's niece and she falls in love with Gideon too.

The characters are fully developed in this story with intelligent believable banter between them.

The Audible Narrator was very good!! I recommend listening to it on Audible.

IS THERE REALLY A GHOST?

I love The plot twist throughout this book. The characters are funny and witty and passionate, and the narrator says a great job bringing the character to life.

This is a great series
