Gifted pianist Valentine Windham, youngest son of the Duke of Moreland, has little interest in his father's obsession to see his sons married, and instead pours passion into his music. But when Val loses his music, he flees to the country, alone and tormented by what has been robbed from him.

Grieving Ellen Markham has hidden herself away, looking for safety in solitude. Her curious new neighbor offers a kindred lonely soul whose desperation is matched only by his desire, but Ellen's devastating secret could be the one thing that destroys them both.

Together, they'll find that there's no rescue from the past, but sometimes losing everything can help you find what you need most.

Contains mature themes.

This series is excellent & I enjoy the characters, they all are very real, & the narrator is excellent. If I had to come up with an area that could improve in the series it would be to make the leading female lead less drama or moody & not to drag out the endings so much . But that is all otherwise excellent!

Excellence

This book is super as are the other two in this series.
Enjoyed story in all three books.
The narrator was excellent.

The heroine is needy, cries, goes silent…and Val is forever coaxing her out of herself. It’s not believable. Unfortunately.

The heroine’s background story is also flimsy.

But alas it was the final brother to find love…

If you liked the first two, you may enjoy this, or you may feel let down.

Continuation of great story but…

Overall, a good installment in the series. Unfortunately, we again have a stupid woman with a 'terrible secret' who needs rescuing (3rd book, essentially the same plot). The male characters are so appealing and well sketched that I wonder why the women have to be so silly.

Love Valentine.

ALL the feels. Anyone who’s ever lost the ability to do something they love will REALLY get into this one. Suitably creepy & well fleshed villain.

Repeat listen just as it was a repeat read
