The Wanted

Scarlett Parish is a recovery agent, and she and her partner, Walter Hillam, travel all along California’s vast, unpredictable landscape as they search for, capture, and bring to justice wrongdoers.

This story begins with just such an occurrence: Scarlett and Walter, after tracking a thief all the way from Sacramento to San Diego, are eventually able to apprehend the man and bring him to the local sheriff to retrieve their reward. Their next job—discovering the identity of and bringing to justice the man responsible for the theft of several tools from a smithy in the city of Santa Sophia—does not go as smoothly, and what follows is a dangerous undertaking that tests all of Scarlett’s strength and fortitude.

The Wanted is a western adventure romance tale interwoven with factual elements of the time period.

Recommended to fans of westerns, crime stories, or strong female protagonists.

Action packed Western

Was a good little story that hit the ground running and never let up. Pretty simple straightforward story but fairly well written. Characters are enduring the main character is a bit of a Mary Sue. The only distracting thing was the constant POV shifts without good transitions sometimes I lost track of who's POV I was in. overall good short story that you can knock out in a session or two.

Really enjoyed this story and the narration.

I spent a lot of time in a small town with a strong western/cowboy history. This story captured many elements that reminded me of my times there.

I like having music, an audiobook or podcast playing while I’m working around the house. I enjoyed the characters and found the story easy to follow along while engaged in other activities. I even listened a second time and ended up buying a few of the author’s other audiobooks.

The narrator did an excellent job with these characters. Highly recommend this for a less violent than normal western with a solid lead character that’s a woman who’s not portrayed in a demeaning way.
