What was once the Peradaini Empire is now a wasted landscape of burned, empty cities and abandoned farmlands. The Blessing, now more numerous than ever, continues to spread across the continent, driving refugees to the dubious safety of the city walls. Unharvested crops mean that few strongholds have enough provisions to last the winter, although most know the grunts will take them before starvation will.

But hope survives. A piece of stolen magic just might halt the spread of The Blessing if Tejohn and Cazia can find a scholar with the skill to re-create the spell. If such a person still lives.

Unfortunately they are nearly out of time. The few remaining human enclaves are isolated and under siege. Worse, The Blessing has spread to other sentient creatures. If Cazia and Tejohn are going to strike back at their monstrous enemy, they cannot delay.

And there's another deeper question left unaddressed: Where did The Blessing come from, and why have they invaded Kal-Maddum?

The Way into Darkness is the final book in The Great Way series.

Not one dull moment from start to finish in this spectacular conclusion to a stellar trilogy. Wow, what an ending. Harry Connolly has got to be the most underrated, underappreciated novelist ever...only because not enough people seem to know of his work. His Twenty Palaces series is also incredible and his novel One Man is beyond any superlatives I currently have at my disposal. Love ALL of it.

Another Brilliant Series by Harry Connolly

all 3 books...just the entire storyline I found to be beautifully written. I loved how the book was very unpredictable and the outcomes were still logical / reasonable. I like the little nuance character development descriptions. The description of certain facial expressions or feelings that the character would have about a particular situation. I mean smalls simple scenes nothing major that gave me deeper insight into the characters. I really really really really like the ending....a thorough answer to the question. And also the actual ending scene just left me with a really Pleasant smile on my face and feeling of contentedness.

the narrator was really good at differentiating the voices of all characters and I enjoyed the baritone of his voice and his inflections. my own personal pet peeve is that I have a hard time reading book with teenagers or kids as the main characters. So I have to thank the author for making the young adult characters appropriately mature which a perfectly acceptable tone making it easy for me...actually enjoyable for me to listen to this series.

Perfect Tempo'ed Story

Enjoyed the book, but it's rife with Masonic principles. I would caution against allowing this book to affect your spiritual outlook.

Good book

The trilogy combines fine world building with excellent characters and puts a very good story together around them. Of course, Michael Kramer can make a textbook sound good, but with a story like this, he adds whole dimensions with intonation and pacing. Altogether, an entertaining listen.

Nice Finish

Fast paced action, danger, and crocodile people made this book a fun and exciting read. I loved that even though there was a good ending it wasn't all unicorns and rainbows, the people still had to do a lot to save their own world. My only small complaint is that the answer to their questions seemed simplistic. I was hoping for a bigger reason to the troubles of the universe. I don't think I worded that right but I didn't want to reveal any spoilers.

Great ending to a great series!
