The story has a great message, I just found it to be boring and couldn't wait for it to be over.

So engaging and authentic, I enjoyed listening to the funny, heartbreaking life story of Jack and his happily ever after with

Shorts aren’t usually my go-to, but this one wasn’t bad. Narration was good and story was engaging. The writing was good.

Not a lot of plot. It’s more of a snapshot of a window of time in one man’s life and a reflection on past relationships.

If you like shorts, this is a good one.

The Weddings by Alexander Chee

I was not prepared for the excellent prose and biting commentary in this short story within the series "The Inheritance". This story is by far the best of the lot as it speaks interestingly of race, identity, and relationships. And it's a little about the tenants of marriage - LGBTQ and straight.

Definitely grabbed my attention from the start and had lots of staying power as the story unfolded. I would definitely like to see these characters in a full-length novel.

Jack

Jack is at a friend's wedding. He used to be in a relationship with this friend and now he's attending his wedding. Scott and Jack used to have a relationship so it was surprising to him that Scott had moved on. This story is about their history and how they got where they are now. It's well written and the characters are likeable.
