Another powerful story in the Logan Family Saga and companion to Mildred D. Taylor's Newbery Award-winning Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.

For David Logan, a time of distress means taking the higher road.

During a drought, the Logan family shares their well water with their neighbors, black and white alike. But David’s brother Hammer finds it hard to share with Charlie Simms, who torments them because they are black. Hammer’s pride and Charlie’s meanness are a dangerous combination, and tensions between the boys build and build—until they explode.

This book shows much of the struggles that black people had back in the day and some of the struggles they still deal with. It's a wonderful story and if it doesn't touch your heart then you may have misplaced it.

One of the best books ever written.

This book will keep you on the edge from beginning to end. Mildred D.Taylor always provide the fine details to southern living for African Americans during this time period.

Great Book!

The performance of this is very good, but it was just a step away from being excellent. The story itself is excellent. However, a 1hr30min story is hardly worth one whole credit. Audible should consider bundling all of the shorter stories in the Logan family saga so that listeners can get a fairer value.

Wonderful story terrible value however
