A real treat for fans of horror authors James Herbert, Richard Laymon, and Guy N. Smith!

In the quiet seaside village of Sable, something is stirring. Reclusive artist Jason Harding has retreated there to recover from a past trauma. Lifeboat man Rob Woodhead returned because Sable is his home. Disgruntled weathergirl Vicky West is on her way to interview windsurfers for her satellite TV channel. All of them will be brought together by a freak storm, one that remains stationary over the ocean and seems almost alive. What happens next will rock the entire community to its core....

The Wet is the very first novel written by best-selling and award-winning author Paul Kane (The RED Trilogy, Before, Sherlock Holmes and the Servants of Hell). Penned in his early 20s and recently uncovered, this curiosity influenced by ’70s and ’80s horror novels will shock and surprise you. The Wet is certain to cause a splash!

A deliriously surreal body horror with adventure elements in a scenic coastal community. It's more character driven than I expected with a more fluid (ha) less defined evil for much of the run; but a gnarly surreal introduction serves as a good hook. Investigative reporters uncovering evils is a cliche but executed well here. For a book it has imaginative 'effects' and the visuals are a highlight; The Wet whets (ha) one's mind's eye. The setting helps elevate the material and it's unusual enough you never really have any sense of what might happen. The ending feels more like a method to end a cool idea than a key part of the storyline; but it's wet premise is a great one. The narrator has a nasal sharpness with a slight accent and formal vibe that works ok for the material.

This was a big surprise! I don't understand why nobody else has reviewed this yet... excellent story and the narrator sounds like Chris Barrie from Red Dwarf but it's not.,. really enjoyed the book and I got this in exchange for a review and to be honest I'm not quite done yet but it's awesome and I have been having trouble with my internet service. Hopefully audible will post it...I will have to check later but it's super. it would be a good movie.

WOW! This is really excellent!
