In this short story from the author of Cruelty and The Sound of Broken Ribs, our narrator finds themselves no longer alone in the barren wood they've called home since time out of mind. A specter from their past has come to visit. Might the visitor be a ghost, a time traveler, or something more sinister? For not everyone is who (or what) they seem to be.

"There Were Other Versions of Us" is a short story of 8,000 words.

I don’t know what I was expecting, but I was happily surprised none-the-less. Edward Lorn does an amazing job writing our main character and Ian Gordon is a phenomenal narrator! I listened to this at work to pass the time and throughly enjoyed it!

That was a great short story!

This one was trippy and interesting. The reveal near the end was a little incongruous, but in a way it still kind of worked, even if it seemed out of place. I like the overlapping stories. It was a little weird that the protagonist had a lot to say about alternate timelines and a complex explanation of the cosmology or physics of the thing, but the second one at least is just my preference. All the same it was a good setup and could've maybe made a good full-length novel.
