Narration: Clear, especially in comparison with recordings made of previous inaugurations. Apparently, recording technology improved markedly during the intervening years.

Content: Interesting how without actually saying so Roosevelt is preparing the country for war. His theme is simple: During the past eight years we worked together to overcome internal strife, and that has disposed us to look inward. It is now time, he asserts, for us to look outward and face the threats to democracy from abroad (i.e., Germany and Japan).

Listening to this inauguration speech puts into dramatic perspective America's imminent entry into WW2.
