Henrietta Elizabeth Marshall (1867 – 1941) was a British author, most famous for her works of history for children.

For decades, Marshall's books were ubiquitous in schools and home libraries. Much of the popularity of her works stems from her talent for making history read like good storytelling.

I was excited to find this for my 9 year old daughter who loves listening to the first part which we got from librivox. However - this recording is not divided up into chapters making it very difficult for her to listen to. She can't stop it and then start again unless she writes down the time she stopped it and honestly for her age - that just doesn't happen. I'm actually a little bummed I used a credit on it - though I will probably still get the other parts because my daughter still likes the story line - I hope they change it.

A little disappointing

We are using this as part of our homeschool program. I don’t like that the chapters aren’t broken up. But I do like that the voices switch every few minutes. It’s helpful to stop and narrate at the voice changes. Overall the audio is well done, though some of the words will show the dating of this book. It’s a good comprehensive narrative of American history.

Good for narration
