From the bestselling author of The Forgetting: a tense, character-driven suspense with a final twist that will make you gasp

A heartbroken mother

When seventeen-year-old Isla Richardson is killed in a hit-and-run incident, a community’s lives are thrown into disarray. For Isla’s mum, Abby, it is her second devastating bereavement, having lost her husband five years ago. As Abby begins to uncover secrets about Isla’s life, she’s forced to rethink everything she thought she knew about her family.

A supportive best friend

For Abby’s best friend, Nicole, the tragic death sets in motion a chain of events that will have irreparable consequences for her husband and her two teenage sons.

A determined mum

For Jenna, Isla’s death threatens to expose secrets about her son’s past that she has done everything in her power to hide, to secure him a better future.

A tragedy unites them—but it could also tear their families apart

Tackling friendship, family, social prejudice and the pressures facing young women, Three Mothers asks: How well do we really know our children? And how far would any of us go to protect the people we love?

Ideal for fans of Louise Candlish, Lisa Jewell and Liane Moriarty, Three Mothers is a tense, page-turning domestic suspense story with a final twist that will make you gasp.

Critic reviews

‘You’ve watched Adolescence, right? This has the same feel to it–of teenage lives gone horribly, terrifyingly astray, despite loving parents and childhoods; of parents absolutely unaware of what is going on in their children’s lives.’The Observer

Three Mothers is the kind of novel that leaves you with a knot in your stomach, especially if you’ve ever asked yourself: “What would I do to protect my child?” or worse, “What wouldn’t I admit to myself if it meant keeping my world intact.”’Cape Argus

‘An all-consuming, heartbreaking tale that reminds us how fragile life and relationships can be.’The Sun

Wonderfully written! Beautifully narrated! Such good twists and turns. Kept me listening until the very end.

Great listen!!

The narrator was ok, but I prefer books that have different narrators for the different characters. It was kind of long and drawn out. A little bit predictable. Decent enough.

Eh it was ok

I couldn’t put this book aside. I usually read three books at a time (switching back and forth), but once I started this one, I couldn’t stop until I finished it. I did feel that the end dragged on a bit too long. Otherwise it had no flaws.

The twists and turns.

It was an easy listen . There were some surprising twist that I did not see coming . A little bit of stuff that was threw in but really didn't have any relevance. All in all it was a good book I do love how they carried on with what happened after the crime was solved and tied everything together.

Good story easy to follow

The storyline was very good, almost seeming like it was a biography rather than fiction
