While visiting the St. Louis World’s Fair, George Whipple steps in to help a young orphan boy who is getting beat up by a gang of older boys with his sister crying on the sideline. The old man invites the boy and his “sister” back to the Whipplehouse Orphanage that he runs with his brother for a good night’s sleep and a real meal. The kids only have street names, so the brothers give them the names Parker and Lydia. The Timekeeper is book one in the Realm of Elestra series. This story is mainly about Parker, the magical monocle and his ability to stop time. I really enjoyed Andrew McDermott’s narration with his Irish brogue. I would not consider this book to be a standalone book too many questions are left unanswered, but if you are like me you will be looking forward to continuing on to book two “Lydia”. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Timekeeper (Realm of Elestra Book 1), my first read from author Rebekah Dodson. Well written & enjoyable. Narrator Andrew McDermott’s accent was perfect for this book and added greatly to the listening enjoyment. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it.
