Harper Lee's beloved classic, a masterpiece of American literature translated into 40 languages, has been simplified, abridged and edited by Angela T. Wesker in this completely revised new edition. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a timeless novel that features the complexities of human nature with humor and honesty. The story of Scout, Atticus and the Maycomb community will captivate and engage students , offering them a haunting portrait of race and class, innocence and injustice, hypocrisy and heroism, tradition and transformation in the Deep South of the US during the 1930s. The book comes with an introduction and a frame of reference, with notes and integrated activities to develop reading skills and increase active vocabulary. The language skills development goes hand in hand with a rich literary, thematic analysis that promotes the students' critical thinking. Angela T. Wesker is an experienced international teacher and teacher trainer who has worked with pupils studying English as their first or as an additional language for over thirty years. The AI reading misses words and makes it unintelligible. We couldn’t finish the story because it wasn’t making sense with words missing.

This “simplified” edition of To Kill a Mockingbird should never have been turned into an audiobook. It’s packed with multiple‑choice questions, activities, and study‑guide filler—none of which translates to audio unless you enjoy being quizzed by a robot voice from 2008.

It’s also so abridged that you’d be better off reading the full novel or a three‑paragraph summary. The whole thing feels disjointed, choppy, and unpleasant to listen to. And the virtual narrator? Truly awful.

A classic deserves better than this. Avoid this edition at all costs.

Absolutely not meant to be an audiobook
