If Mr. Darcy had met Elizabeth Bennet in his beloved Derbyshire, would he have recognized her as the love of his life instead of dismissing her as someone “not handsome enough to tempt” him? This alteration of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice adds a little spirit, flirtation, and charm to everyone’s favorite characters. Early in the summer of 1811, Elizabeth Bennet travels to Derbyshire to help her aunt and uncle settle in as new owners of Saphrinbrooke. Elizabeth is soon introduced to the estate’s nearest neighbors: Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy and his sister, Georgiana, who is suffering the results of a fateful trip to Ramsgate. Having endured several life tragedies herself, Elizabeth reaches out to the young lady of Pemberley. Under her radiant influence, both Darcy and Georgiana begin to look for help outside of themselves. To Refine Like Silver is a romantic and spiritual journey where more than one of our favorite Regency characters must learn to fully rely on God. Their trials bring depth to the beloved story, and Mr. Darcy ultimately learns that our trials do not define us; rather they refine us. I don’t mind religion/spirituality intertwined in P&P variations, but this was ridiculous. Just too much. Way too much.

Far too long, entirely too preachy

I enjoyed the faith part of the story. It showed how forgiveness brings so much more. Darcy did not begin arrogant, he began lost due to his sister’s sorrow.
The virtual voice does not let you enjoy it like Harry Frost or similar voice actor, but for me I enjoyed the healing and faith not only in God but in one another.

The Healing

That was a pretty good pride and prejudice fanfiction I guess we could call it lol,
It was very religious, so if you’re not into that you would probably not enjoy this. It’s not usually the type of book I listen to but like I said, I did enjoy it. It was wholesome, it was cute. It was different, but the same check it out.

Pretty good.

The story got lost with the preaching. Don’t get me wrong - I am a person of faith, but the message was repetitive and took away from the flow of the novel.

Too long

I felt like I was in perpetual church sermon. It was so uncomfortable at points. It was about rape as well. Forgiveness for that. Will not listen to this ever again.

So very long!!!
